Halloween Week: Coil - Unreleased Theme From Hellraiser

Coil were commissioned by writer/director Clive Barker to provide the soundtrack for his 1987 film Hellraiser. Described, apparently in a positive way, by Barker as "bowel-churning", the finished score was duly rejected by the studio in favor of a more conventional in-house effort. The work was released by Coil that same year as The Unreleased Themes From Hellraiser on 10" vinyl and cassette, and three years later in a more complete version on CD.

Bonus horror tie-in - the Coil lineup at that time included Stephen Thrower, later the author of several large, heavy and superb books on horror movies published by Fab Press, including Beyond Terror - The Films of Lucio Fulci and Nightmare USA.

Bonus bonus - second clip below sees two Coil tracks off Horse Rotorvator/Gold Is The Metal set to clips from 1920's Danish witchcraft film Haxan. Yes, it's been posted before.
